Short Stories

 

Deborah's award-winning short stories cover wide range of genres, from literary, mystery, magic realism and commercial fiction.  All of her works delve into the psychological conflicts of her vivid characters.  Locations for her stories take place all over the world, including:  Cuba, Colombia, New York, North Carolina, Arizona and Costa Rica.

She is working on a few remaining stories, which will comprise a full-length collection for publication.

Arizona Authors Association 2005 National Literary Contest, First Place Winner for the literary  short story "FOR KATIE."  The piece is published in the Arizona Literary Magazine's Fall 2005 issue and is currently available on AnthologyBuilder.com.  The Arizona Literary Magazine nominated "For Katie" to the the 2006 Pushcart Prize in the short fiction category.

Deborah's first publishing credit is for the short story "STELLA."  The piece is featured in "Medley of Murder," Red Coyote Press' collection of short stories.  The mystery anthology is available through Red Coyote Press and Amazon, ISBN #: 0-9766733-6-3.  RCP nominated STELLA to the 2007 Pushcart Prize in the short fiction category. 

"SMOKY MOUNTAIN INQUEST", appears in the mystery  anthology "Map Of Murder," currently available through the publisher of the collection Red Coyote Press and Amazon, ISBN #: 0-9766733-3-9.  April 25, 2007, this anthology won the Indie Excellence 2007 Book Awards in the Short Story Fiction Category.
